March

Photo above: Our son skiing with his best friends (two of them) in Innsbruck, Austria.

Our past March are here.  2025202420232022.

Did you know that I started my blog on March 2022?

Also it is our son's birthday month. He is "the year of Horse" guy, so can you guess his age?

3/31/2026

This trailer caught my eyes right away.  I really want to watch this show.  How about you?

3/30/2026.
Once you painted a barn quilt by yourself, your point of view about Barn Quilt changes.  You can see and tell which patterns are easy or difficult. Simple or complicated.
Thanks to my Olsburg friend, I can tell a little bit about Barn Quilt. (My first painting experience is here Entry#485.  11/08/2025.)
She created the latest one and showed it to me. It’s Sunflower. See?
I love it very much.  It’s different than a sunflower BQ I had here in my house.
That red-ish brown part looks tricky. I could say it took longer time.
I love her updates on her BQ projects very much.

Entrt#558.  3/29/2026.
Do you remember the event my husband offered/ provided/ organized/ created in Oxford in October 2025?  Check photos on October 2025 page.  Entry#465. 10/05/2025.

Our Miami news-writer friend wrote about it (link is below).
Title: Miami biologists share knowledge during first Adaptive Nature Walk on Wheels

Like I wrote before, the Bridge adaptive sports and recreation, Cincinnati based nonprofit organization for people with disabilities, is now our great connection also absolutely essential.
They provide my husband several adaptive sports throughout a year. We support them as much as possible.
One of their great programs is “Flying Pig 10K Training Handcycle and Recumbent “Hamcycling”.
They created and setup a new division for Flying Pig 10K race in 2023 for the first time ever. Their accomplishment was huge at that time. They had to create accessible platforms including parking, bathroom and more. They provided handcycles/recumbent bikes and training sessions for 2 months.

Since my husband has his own handcycle, he does his own training by himself. We live in Oxford, the training place is a little bit far from our town.  So we don’t attend the 10K training program. However we always want to support them. During my husband’s spring break, we visited their training session to greet them and cheer them.
The Bridge got huge numbers of participants this year! Amazing number. The biggest participation ever!  Exciting. Wonderful.
You would be amazed when you see how they manage everything for people with disabilities.
I love them and we love to keep supporting them forever of course.
Do you want to refresh your memory about my husband's very 1st Handcycle race ever in 2023?  Here is the link.
https://www.mrstinoxford.com/2023/flying-pig-10k-part-1
Remember?  His first handcycle machine was not a racer-type at all. It was a upright style.  Also he got a flat tire during the race, yes, he did.

Entry#557. 3/29/2026.
Do you remember about the difference between handcycle and racing wheelchair?
I think I need to remind you of that fact several times a year, maybe?  Because people would see these two things as the same things often.
Additionally most of people could see racing wheelchair in the big world marathon races with marathoners. (Not much handcycle.)
When my husband and I talk about handcycle to people, people would imagine it was about racing wheelchair quite often. (It was not.)
Do you remember these equivalent formula?
Racing wheelchair (we also call it ‘Rim-pusher’)  =  Running
Handcycle  =  Cycling

In adaptive triathlon races, adaptive athletes compete in 3 events.
Swim
Bike = Handcycle
Run = Racing wheelchair (=Rim-pusher)
So it makes sense to you here?

I wrote about Rim-pusher at two sections.  Entry#330 (11/28/2024).Entry#248 (4/28/2024)

I learned the term of “Abbott World Marathon Majors” lately because my author-friend ran Tokyo marathon (She is a Cincinnati local.). There is “The Six Star Medal”.  (Except for Berlin).
They call “World Marathon Majors” = 7 cities.
Tokyo.
Boston.
London.
Sydney.
Berlin.
Chicago.
NYC.
https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/six-star/majors

Then it made me wonder.  Do they all, 7 cities, have “handcycle division or program” in Marathon race?
The answer is NO. Not all. Interesting, isn’t it? They all have “Wheelchair division”. Yes, all of them.  (I’m not 100% sure but I believe they would have other para-athletes like amputees, blind, deaf athletes.) Handcycle/ handbike is a little bit different category obviously.
No handcycle for Tokyo, London, Sydney.
Yes handcycle for Boston, Berlin, Chicago, NYC.
After I’ve learned about handcycle and I’ve witnessed my husband’s handcycle journey, I always feel grateful for knowing the facts there are several marathon races where handcycle can attend to.
If you wonder.  My husband is a handcyclist. He's not tried on a racing wheelchair. Interesting?

3/28/2026.
I just saw this photo on social media. It made me wonder. There are still many things I don't know about Ohio, even though I've lived in Ohio since 2008. I have to look it up.
I know "Piqua".

3/26/2026.
It was hot with strong gusty wind (over 80F) today. Of course, we went biking outside today. However I was too slow and was scared of wind. It was that much stronger.

3/25/2026.
My Thanksgiving cactus update. Hmmm it's blooming here.  Also I got a flower bouquet at the concert from Mr. & Mrs. Benson. It was a wonderful surprise.

3/25/2026.
I love reading Oxford Free Press (OFP) both online and printed issues. One article caught my eyes right away.  I might know this girl's grandmother(!) She and I worked at TMS as EA. How wonderful news it is. Wow. Carnegie Hall! Wow.

Entry#556. 3/25/2026.
Behind the Scene 1.
Gorgeous Pipe Organ
The Church where the concert was held is Mr. Benson’s church. He proudly set up for everything at the church. He explained to me about the best sound system in town and there was the finest pipe organ as well.  I got curious, of course.  Did you know that both Mr. Benson and Ms. Cahall were pipe organists (!). That’s one of their connections.
When Ms. Cahall arrived at the church, Mr. Benson let her play a pipe organ right away.  I was impressed and amazed.  The sounds were amazing. I was really lucky.

Behind the Scene 2.
An accessible Church entrance
I checked a church entrance and parking spaces beforehand. It’s a kind of my routine check. See photos below.
The last photo: there is another door with a ramp. However this steepness is not right for wheelchair users. My eyebrows rise, you know? I was grateful that a church had an accessible entrance.

Entry#555. Recap 2. 3/24/2026
I had a great unforgettable experience thanks to Mr. Benson and TMU Dolce singers and their director. Plus I met a wonderful piano accompanist (choral accompanist) on the concert day.  (In fact, the time signatures are very complicated. Also the piano part itself is very high level required for a high skill. At least I can say that.)

Since I’m not a music professional at all, everything around Mr. Benson got me curious, hooked and excited.
I’ve learned a lot, step by step, from the beginning. I had no idea about what a composer does, including how to make a song/ write a choir song. I was so pleased when I saw his “fresh” music sheets at the very beginning. And I imagined his process of creating song music.
If you missed our story of “how it started”, check out Entries in February 2026. (Find Entry#529 and #530 on 2/8/2026. + Entry#535 on 2/22/2026.)

When he shared score sheets of his new composition with me, he shared MP3 files of those songs with me as well.
I thought it was only a piano sound. I was wrong. It had human voice-sounds without words. (Make sense?) So that I could listen to the songs as close as real singing could be.
It really helped me to imagine the real songs.

Then I wondered how a composer would find a choir group for his new composition after the music score was completed?
I’m still not so sure about this part of the process.  It took over 5 years to get the chance of the Premiere performance for this masterpiece. That is true.

Then my questions were coming more and more. Once a composer finds a choir group, does he give some lessons, lectures, and advice to singers? Will he conduct a performance?  I was able to figure them out when I visited TMU Dolce practice time with Mr. Benson twice(!). I was thankful and grateful for these visiting times.

On the Concert day, I believe Mr. Benson was a little bit nervous about how many people in town would come to the concert, especially Japanese audience.
Dolce singers had a recording session before the concert at the church. I was able to observe that. It got me excited more. I was amazed the church construction itself, the sound effect and beautiful atmosphere with singers’ voices/harmonies.

Once the concert started, I couldn’t stop smiling. I awed repeatedly.
You might wonder about the special pieces; Poems of Dwelling: Four Haiku Poems by Matsuo Bashō.
To me, personally, it is very unique and special. Yet, it is fun and beautiful.  Most of English speaker audiences don’t understand Japanese words (original haiku words).  But they would enjoy the harmony and rhythm, of course. If you are Japanese, you would be impressed and feel joyous, I am pretty sure.
I admire Mr. Benson’s composition, his creation and his accomplishments very much.  I hope other choir groups will sing these songs somewhere.  I hope the music sheets would be available to choral directors in the world.  I do hope I could watch the performances of these songs on YouTube more and more in future.  Imagine that.  That’d be so wonderful.

I got autographs by 3 wonderful musicians, Ms. Cahall the director, Ms. Jantzen the accompanist and Mr. Benson the composer!  I feel so lucky indeed. See?

Entry#554. Recap 1.  3/23/2026.
I’m still smiling since Saturday. It was a big day for Mr. Benson the great composer in town.

It was a huge success after all. I was happy all day long.

The Oxford Free Press wrote about Dolce, Mr. Benson and the composition. Please read. It's a really good read.
https://www.oxfreepress.com/kentucky-womens-choir-to-debut-work-by-oxford-composer/

I need to write all about it from my perspective. I have a lot in my mind. I can tell this right now. I brought my husband and son to the concert. (You know? It was a rare occasion because it was an art-related event.)  I was so glad that we all went together. Even my husband and son had a good time.

3/22/2026.
March weather is still not so "stable" yet. But if the temperature says "80F", that's definitely for "sleeveless biking".

Then our son showed us "his new challenge" for this spring. Looks he wants to juggle with "5 balls"(!) Really?
He says "4 balls is easier than 5."  What?

Entrt#553. 3/20/2026.
Our son’s souvenir picks from his Innsbruck trip update.  Here they are.

It was his very first Europe trip. It was interesting to me because he was able to visit 3 counties in Europe totally (because of his flights schedules).  Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland (!). Very nice. As I said before, I’ve not been to Europe yet. I’m really jealous.
He found a good coffee beans for my husband in Innsbruck, Austria. This company looks so unique and wonderful. We have enjoyed the coffee very much at home.
Chocolate wafers are so delicious. You would love it.
As I posted before, the tote bag is just perfect and cute. I love it.

He also found keychains in Switzerland. Cute. It made me wonder “Why chocolate, watch and St. Bernard?” “What is Switzerland’s national flower?”  I had to google about it.

I guess everyone in the world knows Swiss Chocolate and Swiss Watch are famous. So as St. Bernard??

 https://www.aboutswitzerland.eda.admin.ch/en/the-st-bernard-the-making-of-an-alpine-legend

They were originally bred for rescue work by the hospice of the Great St Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border.
Our son told us he saw quite a number of St. Bernard dogs in public in Zurich, Switzerland. Interesting!!  Is that right? Wow.  I want to see them in person.
Also he mentioned about language. He noticed there were some sounds (pronunciation) he couldn’t create/make. He tried to say it after he asked local persons to let him hear it. He had fun times there, I’m sure.
One more fun fact. The money (currency) in Switzerland. Did you know Switzerland money?
My husband and I thought it had to be Euro. We were wrong.
https://www.travelex.co.uk/travelex-hub/travel-guides/what-is-the-currency-in-switzerland

Switzerland is officially a neutral country. This part was taught in Japan, so we know that.
Then Switzerland is a member of neither NATO nor the EU (and it joined the UN only in 2002.) Euro isn’t Switzerland’s national currency, that’s why. I didn't know that.  We should have known better?  Now it’s good to know.
P.S. Switzerland's national flower is The Edelweiss. That's why one keychain has it. It makes sense. Cute.

Entry#552. 3/19/2026.
I visited one of biology classes that Dr. Russell teaches because my husband was the guest speaker for the class.  I was really glad that I made it to visit. He talked about SCI (Spinal Cord Injury). The main topic was “his own SCI”, focusing on his perspective and his real life. (His conditions, his thoughts and so on.)
Some of his stories are not in the textbooks often. (There might be several autobiography books by paraplegic people, maybe.  But college classes don’t use them for the classes, I guess.)
To me, personally, it was a really good “review” “looking-back” and “rethinking”. It was a really nice summary of our lives after the accident.
I believe that students were interested in his talks deeply.  Everything is “real” stuff.
Then one video clip was shown to students. It made me think “I should post it on my blog”.  So here it is.

I started my blog in March 2022.  This video was in November 2021, 4 months after the accident. I wrote about his PT sessions in Louisville, KY a little bit, not much. We loved Frazier rehabilitation institute (it’s a part of University of Louisville hospital complex.)
The PT sessions there were great experiences to both of us. I think I need to write about it more sometime.
Meanwhile please read Entry#9 and #10 (April 2022).

Entry#551. 3/17/2026.
My husband is a fulltime wheelchair user. There are still some problems around him sometimes.
What if;
He has a class to teach that there are 350 students.
The lecture room for that class has a stage with 3 steps (stairs).
There are no ramps.
He needs to be on the stage to give students lectures......

To me, personally, an interesting fact was there are not much choice of lecture rooms for 350 students classes around biology building. Those big rooms are accessible for "students". However sometimes it isn't accessible for a professor-side.  Did you know that?
So...... what is he going to do for the next fall semester?

3/16/2026. 7:30pm.
It feels crazy because it's snowing. During the day, we had tiny tiny hails as well. At some points, it looked white-out out there really. Brrrrr.
I had to pull out my ski jacket because I already did put it away.

One more. We had a quite strong wind storm also. Guess what? I got a fallen tree in my front yard/garden. I was not at home. I was worried about how to clean it up.  Crazy, isn't it?

When I came home, guess what?  My sweet next door neighbor (he is a director of Hefner museum!) did cleanup job already. He cut the fallen tree for us. My eyes were wide open, of course. I can't say thank you enough to him. I am truly grateful. Thank you!

3/16/2026.
Happy happy birthday to our son. Big 24! He is still a good sport because he jumped with joy when I said "Jump!". Funny.

3/15/2026.  The Musical show update.
I made it to visit and watch the Wizard of Oz the Musical, with my sweet art-teacher friend. You know? I tried to be "in Emerald green" for my outfit just because there was an Emerald city in the show. Are you laughing?  How do you think about my outfit?  My bag shined greener as well, see?
I had two flower bouquets, one for the Costumer and one for the Dorothy who was a daughter of the Costumer.
I have to report this loudly "The Toto was a real dog!" and she was super cute + did a great job indeed. I was amazed!

Note: A tiny 'sad' moment at the show.  They didn't sing "Already Home" which is now one of my favorite. Well, it was a wonderful Musical show after all.

Entry#550. 3/15/2026.
Are you familiar with Rube Goldberg machine?
You might be surprised if I say “All Japanese people knows it and they all love it”. It’s not exaggerating, I think I could say that. People in Japan are interesting in some ways. (Oh, including myself.)
I love Rube Goldberg machine very much, too.
I have to explain about Japanese TV clips named “Pythagora Switch”.
According to Wiki;

PythagoraSwitch (ピタゴラスイッチPitagora Suitchi) is a 15-minute Japanese children's puppet animated preschool educational television program that has been aired by NHK since April 9, 2002.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PythagoraSwitch

Our son was born in 2002. His grandparents sent him several recordings (VHS Tapes) about this TV program back then. He watched them and really loved them.
You would love it, too. I post some videos from YouTube. Try them.
You know? Around 2007, YouTube (or any other social media) was not so much trending yet. Do you remember about that?
My husband set up an account on YouTube to save a family videos. We were able to “share” videos with our families in Japan from the States. We used YouTube as that kind of tool.  Because there were no YouTubers, no Influencers, not at all.
One video (I posted it on 12/19/2022.  It was 412262 views then.)
Our son visited his grandparents’ house. He asked his grandpa “Let’s make our own Rube Goldberg machine!”. His grandpa (= my father) had to hustle to make it using his tools and stuffs.
It was a tiny system but it was good enough to our son. He was so proud and he sang the theme song, explained it and presented it nicely in Japanese. Fun!  Check the video (it’s a home video) from 2007.
Do you see the view number now? It is 4130157 by now. 413K views!  We think it’s remarkable. Don’t you think?

Entry#549. 3/15/2026.
Our son was born on 3/16/2002 in Manhattan, KS.  I think his original due date was on St. Patrick’s day. I had no idea about what St.Patrick’s day was back then in 2002, since I was still new in the States.  I remember that hospital people mentioned about St. Patrick’s day at that time, to me, though.
Later on, I’ve learned about it more through school library job. It was fun to learn about it.
Last week, my long time friend in Olsburg, KS said “Next week is St, Patrick’s Day which is the old time potato planting day.”(!)
I’ve learned something about St. Patrick’s day before, but not “Potato planting”.  She got me curious more. Interesting.

https://blog.nwf.org/2011/03/go-green-with-a-st-patricks-day-garden/

https://www.finegardening.com/article/saint-patricks-day-kicks-off-gardening-in-march?srsltid=AfmBOooxW3u7_EfkmWJ8tOhXVlaIZaWrHIzWRVlydVvKQWe-OjTThnE2

You know? I totally gave up on growing any vegetables + fruits in my garden a long time ago because of deer. But it’s good to learn about this potato facts.
So do you plant potatoes in this week?  Let me know.
P.S. Then I found out the info on Irish Potato/ Irish potato candies. Are they very popular??
P.P.S. Will you wear Green on St. Patrick’s Day? I’m going to find something green for myself.

3/14/2026.
I think you can see how much I love to take a shot in front of street murals when you see these photos. Yes, I love it that much.

3/13/2026.
The Sun is up and shining. You cannot resist to give it a try to do a self photo shooting. It always turns into a fun time. You should try it. I always tell my mother in Japan about it. She laughs all the time. But I think we, humans, need that kind of moment in our lives. Don't you think?
Plus if you had flowers for a Musical singer and a Production Costumer, it'd be picture-perfect.
I know I am funny because our son always says so.

3/12/2026.
I was so glad that I was able to visit her. She is my forever mentor, we connect through school library, gardening, baking, lots of things around us. She taught me a lot. I love her grandkids, too.
The precious bonus moment was seeing the ceramic bowl that she used for the snacks. See?  It's the bowl that my son made!  I am always so happy when I see that when I visit my friends' places.

3/12/2026.
In honor of the musical show by RiseUp Performance Arts this weekend (tonight is the Opening night), I put one song from the show which became my favorite. I didn't know that there was a choir version of this song. How do you like it?
The show title: The Wizard of Oz the musical.
Like I said before, will they have Toto with which form? A real dog or the other one?

3/11/2026.
Before the storm (rain + wind) hit here again, my husband and I were able to pedal outside 3 days in a row. We were happy.
This time we got a new gadget called "BiKom".
It works great. I love it very much.

3/10/2026.
My Thanksgiving cactus update.  Each year is different for these cactus. I put all of them together on a table this time. I think I need to repot them with better soil. I think it's time. How about yours?

3/09/2026.
This video is awesome! I love it very much. It has a story behind as well.  I need to explain it.

3/09/2026.
My dear gardener-friends, are your crocuses safe? My first-bloom crocuses are all GONE now. Someone ate them up. All of them. Big sigh.
So deer eat crocus, too??  See the photos below on 3/06.
Well, the suspect seems a rabbit. Sounds right?

Entry#548. 3/09/2026.
I requested a book from the local public library (Lane Public Library in Oxford). When I picked it up at their drive-thru window, I’m pretty sure I made the librarian lady (one of my friends) a little bit confused. She asked me “Did you put a request on this book intentionally? It is a Braille book.”
I answered her “Yes!” clearly and loudly.
I got very curious about Braille after I saw the Tokyo Marathon 2026 finisher’s medal online.   (See the story  Entry#539. 2/27/2026.).
Then I remember that Lane Public Library has several Braille books(!). Did you know that?  I remember because I used to work there as a page/shelver a long ago. I believe I did see some of them during my shelving task. At that time, I didn’t dig into the details of those books at all. Funny, it didn’t get much my attention.
This time, my mind was eager to learn about it more. So I checked it out, the one Braille book.

Have you seen it before? Have you touched it before? Have you felt it before?
As soon as I had it by my hands, several questions came up in my mind right away. Funny?
I found the Braille chart online, I thought I could figure out how to read it. Of course, slowly and one letter at a time. I thought it would be just like “decoding”.
My questions were about more like general concepts and “writing” Braille process.  Have you thought about it?
Now I admire people with visual impairments/ blind people, more than ever.
Did you know?  Blind person must have a great skill of “mirror image” especially when he/she writes Braille. They need to image Braille letter dots pattern in reverse order and make dots from right to left.  I’m amazed the whole process.
Read more on this webpage.

Attached videos of “Braille typewriter”. I’m still curious about this special typewriter.
Do you think I could see this typewriter with my own eyes somewhere around here?  I’d love to see it if it’s possible.
I’m grateful that I reached to some new information about Braille this time. The beginning of everything was my author-runner-friend’s Tokyo Marathon experience.
It's fun, isn't it?

3/08/2026.
We couldn't miss our ourside ride today because it was so sunny. 60s F felt just good. Did you bike today?

Entry#547. 3/08/2026.
I’m a lifelong English learner, I want to say that. I think I can say that. There are several phrases I simply love. Rhythm, tones, sounds and meanings…. (I think I should have my favorite Japanese quotes. It’s funny. It won’t come up anything in my mind. My mother and father would make faces about it, I guess.)
Did you notice something tiny atthe HOME page of my blog?  I put an arranged quote there. It says “Let’s make good lemonade out of lemons!”  Are you smiling?
When I made my mind to start my blog in March 2022 (8 months after my husband’s accident), I was looking at the card my dear veterinarian friend sent me by snail mail. She wrote “You made lemonade out of lemons.”  At that time I didn’t know about the quote “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” not at all.  I loved her saying very much. So I borrowed her phrase for my blog top page.  (We are now long-time friends since our boys played ice hockey together when they were so little .)

I also love the quote “April showers bring May flowers.”  This quote reminds me of my Middle school library work times very much. I used to decorate Library glass displays each months. My mentor-librarian explained to me about this quote then. I used this quote for the April display several times. Good old days.

Then recently Mr. Benson (do you remember him?) taught me another quote. Can you guess? It’s about March.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/02/weather/weather-proverb-march-lion-lamb

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.  Do you use this phrase often? I’m liking it.
Well, hopefully March will gets like a lamb soon.

3/07/2026.
There are so much rainfall here. Yes, I need to accept the fact of "spring = rainy season". However we appreciate dry surface/ dry ground more than wet surface/ wet ground. You know? It's harder and trickier than you imagine to move around with wheelchair on wet surfaces. It could be danger.

3/06/2026.
Sometimes you just cannot stop taking photos of creative coffee cups. Because you love both coffee and ceramics very much.
Yes, that's me. The coffee shop lady brought me this tiny mug of cortado and said "We just got this mug and we're excited about it!"  How wonderful! I just kept taking photo of it. Again and again.  Then guess what? Of course, I sent photos to our son to show off it proudly. It was a lucky day.

My very first bloom in this year.  I don't see daffodil's yellow color yet.....

3/05/2026.
Look! I got a tote bag which was coming from Innsbruck, Austria. Yes, our son and his best friend are back in Ohio from Innsbruck.  It was his first travel to Europe ever. He cannot stop chatting about it with smile and chuckle. I am so happy for him.
I love the texture + design + colors of the tote bag which he brought to home.
Can you guess what he bought for my husband in Innsbruck?

Entry#546. 3/05/2026.
I’m afraid of heavy long-time-period rain. It gets me nervous and uneasy. Just because my driveway gets flooded easily and it won’t be cleared up and dried up soon.
Of course, I am just fine with wearing long rain boots. No problem.
But my husband’s wheelchair won’t be okay with deep water.
A picture doesn’t do justice, but I put these for my record.
If a rain pond in front of a garage is 2 or 3 inches deep, you wouldn’t go into the pond by your car, would you?
I need to think right about where my husband can get in and get out from a van without soaking wet shoes.  He has a class to teach, he has students to teach.

He doesn’t wear long rain boots (rubber ones) because his feet don’t go inside boots.
He needs extra side space of a van to get in/out.
We worry about front caster wheels of his wheelchair, whether they are okay to get into water or not.
With all those concerns and conditions, we need to survive somehow for several days or weeks because weather forecast says many rainfalls will happen.
I am afraid.

Entry#545. 3/04/2026.
As I informed you before about the wonderful composer, Mr. Benson and the wonderful women’s choir group “Dolce” of Thomas More University, (seeEntry#529 and 530. 2/08/2026) here is the official show info.

Save the date and enjoy their whole show including Mr. Benson’s newest masterpiece.
In honor of their wonderful voices and harmonies, I want to share some conversations between the Choir director, Ms. Cahall and myself.
I realized that they have a tour coming up. That made me so curious and think “Where will they go? What is it gonna be like?”
They will go on tour to Cleveland for 3 days, with some stops along the way to perform(!)  How wonderful.
Additionally I asked her about the most favorite piece they are doing.  Because I wanted to know about it before I listen to their songs at the concert in Oxford.
I could search the song title in YouTube and I could be familiar with it beforehand. That’d make my experience even more enjoyable. I’d love that.
She gave me the song title.  “How Can I Keep From Singing” (by Sarah Quartel).
Are you familiar with it?
I post two videos here so that you could be familiar with it. Sending the best of luck to them on their wonderful tour.

Our son is still a throwing-pots-lover. He is a great potter with knowledge of glaze/clay/tools/skills. I am impressed still.  We, my husband and I, enjoy having a potter near us. His pots, plates, bowls, vases, objects and more are still in our house. You’d be surprised how many there are.
There are many containers full of ceramics sitting in a room. Plus they are heavy.
If you want to see his creations (photos), I have several pages.

Sometimes, I open his containers to see his stock. It’s fun, you know?
On a rainy day just like today, I check out his stock/collection. Yes, I did it today. I found several “my favorite” pieces.
I displayed them on a table after I cleaned them up. They are ready to be used, see?  Of course, I will ask our son to get his permission to use them when I see him next time.
I believe he would chuckle then.

I could tell a little bit about Deer in Nara, Japan (奈良 なら). Because deer were quite famous in Nara, Japan, even when I was a little girl. I think I visited Nara once and visited Nara Park to see deer.
I’m pretty sure that people in the States might be interested and surprised to see Japanese deer there, comparing between US deer and Japanese deer.

https://www3-pref-nara-jp.translate.goog/park/1232.htm?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en

I should explain well by myself, but I borrowed the explanation from the website.
———-
Deer crackers have been an essential part of the interaction between people and Nara's deer since the Edo period, and are a culture with a rich historical background.
Deer crackers are a snack made safely for the deer, and a portion of their sales goes towards deer conservation costs, so they are allowed as an exception from the perspective of conservation and tourism promotion.
————

The Park sells “special crackers for deer" and people can feed those crackers to deer in the park.
They say “Deer in Nara are wild animals. Please be careful to interact them.”
At least I can tell my friends here in the States “Try to visit Nara park to see deer. You’d love it.”  Yes, at least I can say that.
Are you getting curious about Japanese deer now?

Entry#542. 3/03/2026.
I proudly announce here that my runner-friend (who is a book author and mother of two) is officially a marathoner. She finished strong at Tokyo Marathon 2026, 26.2mi!! Congratulations!   I’m a proud supporter who lives in Ohio. Woooo hoooo!
(See the Entry#539 2/27/2026).
It was her very first marathon and she did it in Tokyo! Amazing.

This event made me excited also made me thinking about Japan more. Good stuff.
People often ask me “What do you recommend when I travel to Japan? Things I should do in Japan??”  However people should know that I don’t visit Japan often, unfortunately.  My knowledge isn’t updated. Most of the time, my friends’ experiences in Japan update my knowledge about the latest Japan things.
For example;
1. Pig cafe(?!)
I’ve heard about Cat-cafe in Japan before. But I’ve never heard about “micro pigs cafe”, never.
My close friends in Oxford visited there and had a good time with micro pigs(!)

2. Premier immersive, barefoot digital art museum(?!)
This looks new. It seems they started the business in 2001.

This “museum” reminds me of Van Gogh exhibition that happened in Cincinnati before. I've not visited but I was really curious about it.

3. Real life Mario-kart (?!)
This surprised me a lot. Seems lots of foreigner tourists enjoy the rides the most.

4. Niseko ski resort is foreigners paradise (?!)
When I was young, I didn’t see foreigner-skiers much in Niseko. It seems there are foreigners everywhere now.

Those new information made me think a lot. Very interesting. Well, I'm not so sure whether I want to visit Micro pig cafe, though. How about you?

Entrt#541. 3/02/2026.
It is our son’s birthday month, so I think I’m allowed to write about him a bit more than usual. (Don’t you want to hear about him more?)
I think he admires his father deep inside his mind. One day, he bought a used motorcycle. (Red one). (I was surprised.) He had to fix several things by himself, though. He enjoyed riding it a while. Then he sold that machine to someone. Then he found another motorcycle and bought it (again). (Blue one)
He is loving to ride it around the town with his friend who has a different style of motorcycle.
He talked about his motorcycle with his father (= my husband), they sounded so fun and joyful. I was like out of the loop because I had no idea about any motorcycles.
My husband used to ride his own motorcycle in Japan when he was young. I have an old photo here. It's an printed photo. (Are you surprised?)  This machine was a rental motorcycle at that time. (It was in my home town.)
Next time if you see our son, ask him about his motorcycle.  Next time if you see my husband, ask him about his old motorcycle. They would love to chat about it with you joyfully.

P.S.  Now I feel like "I have to add mine". After I got married, my husband and I didn't own a car. He had his motorcycle. Then he bought something for me. Then we were able to go for a ride together with two machines. Mine was not a motorcycle. It was more like a moped. Just like these photos. A funny part was that I was not interested in mechanism nor engine nor engineering/mechanical things at all. However I really enjoyed "how to ride it" at that time. It felt good, that's what I remember. Funny.

3/01/2026.
In honor of the Winter Paralympic Games 2026, I repost the video (just because I didn't find the new version of it). There are many more strong athletes in the world indeed.
Will you watch some of these?

Yesterday, it was pretty warm for the last day of February and two days in a row of 60s F temperature.  We took advantage of that!  Yes, outside ride. I was smiling whole riding time.  I wanted to show off my hummingbird bike jersey to people out there. See?  Do you like it?

Happy Green month!
